Indische Gemeinde Düsseldorf e.V. (IGD), established in 2012, serves as a cultural anchor for the Indian community in Düsseldorf. Dedicated to creating a "home away from home," IGD promotes Indian traditions, values, and heritage through vibrant cultural events, social initiatives, and community support. Over the years, it has evolved into a dynamic hub, strengthening ties between Indian and German communities while welcoming newcomers with open arms.
Our journey began with a small group of dedicated individuals who recognized the need for a cohesive community space where Indian expatriates could come together, celebrate their shared heritage, and support one another. Today, IGD stands as a testament to their vision and hard work, having evolved into a prominent organization that plays a crucial role in promoting Indian culture, facilitating cultural exchange, and enriching the lives of those in the Indian diaspora.
Throughout our history, IGD has hosted numerous cultural, religious, and social events, including major festivals like Durgapuja and Poila Boishakh , which have brought joy and a sense of belonging to countless members of our community. We have also forged strong ties with local authorities and other Indian organizations in Germany, enabling us to better serve the needs of our community and promote the interests of the Indian diaspora.
